Drug Counselor arrested for DUI Manslaughter in Torrance
A drug and alcohol counselor has been arrested for DUI and Manslaughter following an incident last weekend in Torrance. According to media reports, Sherri Wilkins, a drug and alcohol counselor at a Torrance treatment center, allegedly struck a pedsestrian while driving under the influence of alcohol. After the initial collision, she kept driving for more than two miles with the victim embedded in her windshield. Other motorists managed to stop Williams and take the car keys from her. The victim, a 31 year old Torrance resident, still had a pulse when officers arrived on the scene, but was pronounced dead at the hospital. Williams had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit according to the LA Times.
Wilkins is now facing a number of years in State Prison for felony DUI and Manslaughter.
